City of Sweetwater Water Availability Operations Planning

CLIENT: City of Sweetwater
LOCATION: Sweetwater, TX

eHT provides professional services for the City of Sweetwater with regard to water availability planning for the use of the City’s surface water and groundwater supply systems. The City currently utilizes a balance of water from both its Oak Creek Reservoir and its well field system. Because Oak Creek is in a drought-prone area, eHT engineers coordinate with the City throughout the year to evaluate existing reservoir conditions, historical water demand data and anticipated reservoir conditions to determine effective raw water availability from the reservoir. In addition, while the City’s well field system has historically been able to provide the majority of the City water needed on a daily basis, the risk of overproducing from the well field system is always present. As a result, eHT develops a conjunctive surface water/groundwater use evaluation on a rolling three-month basis to provide recommendations to the City regarding the best balance of surface water to groundwater, and when, or if, the City would need to move into a specific drought stage condition, and to ensure continual long-term water availability from both the reservoir and the well field system.
